The Railroad - Drawbridge Area

This photo is a view from the Drawbridge area of Preston, looking down the tracks to Gales Ferry. While the trains that travel these tracks are no longer used for passengers, observation cars were added in 1909 for passengers to view the Harvard Yale Regatta down the river from this site.

I just made this pic my desktop wallpaper. I moved from CT in 1991 and have such fond memories that will forever bring a smile a peaceful respite when they pop into my mind. I used to live next to (and walk to) J.W. Long Elementary school. I was also within walking distance of the RR tracks across Rt. 12. My friends and I used go down there to watch people fish the Thames. We always marveled at the long strings of Cod tails hanging from the trees. I wonder if those are still there? Thank you for posting such beautiful pics of what I remember CT to be. ---Nick
