Land was purchased in 1834 for a Burying Ground on Hurlbutt Road. The Gales Ferry Cemetery Association was formed in 1884. The cemetery, accepted to the National Register of Historic Place, contains the graves of many of Ledyard’s earliest families including Nathan Lester.

There has been some confusion as to the proper contact for the Gales Ferry Cemetery. The cemetery is in no way connected to Linda Davis Realty. Our apologies to the folks who have not gotten a response when leaving a question at this site. This is not a Gales Ferry Cemetery website. The address is Gales Ferry Cemetery Association, PO Box 144, Gales Ferry, CT, 06335.
