Over the last five years Ledyard and Ledyard High School have hosted over twenty international exchange students through the PAX Program of Academic Exchange. This wonderful, non-profit program has raised the interest of our community to international issues, and heightened our own students’ interest in learning more about the world beyond our shores.
This program is an example of citizen diplomacy that each of us can be part of. The US Department of State encourages citizens to invite international students into their homes, to help bring nations closer together through mutual understanding and appreciation.
I encourage each of you to consider hosting an exchange student in your home for the coming year. These students bring their own spending money, and own insurance and would be thrilled to come to our lovely corner of New England.
