Stay Legal in Ledyard on the 4th of July - From The Day

State Police and the State Fire Marshal are reminding Connecticut residents that the only legal firework items are sparklers.

Police said that the public has been overwhelmed with advertisements, signs and sales pitches for fireworks and that the July 4th holiday raises questions about what is legal as far as fireworks are considered.

Citing state law, police said only sparklers are legal in Connecticut. Sparklers are non-explosive, non-aerial devices that contain less than 100 grams of pyrotechnic mixture, according to state law.

I'm hearing lots of big booms at night, clearly not from sprinklers. Let's keep it legal!
