I worked on my first political campaign in 1956. I helped stuff envelopes for the Adlai Stevenson campaign. Although my entire family were actively engaged Democrats, I was secretly an Ike supporter because as a 6 year old I rather favored the “I Like Ike” buttons. Obviously, a lot of other people agreed because Stevenson lost twice to Dwight Eisenhower.
Since that time, I’ve worked on a number of political campaigns. Although my preference is helping others get elected, I am an elected official myself as a member of the Ledyard Town Council. You might say that politics is in my blood. I realize that not everyone loves politics like I do. Some days I don't like politics either.
Attending the GOP convention has always been on “my bucket list” and this year I will finally have the opportunity to attend the Republican National Convention in Tampa during the week of August 26th. Rather than fill up my Simply Ledyard Blog with political chatter, I thought I’d create the Ledyard Politico where I expect to report on my experiences leading up to and during the convention.
Rather than fill this blog up with political chatter, I've created the Ledyard Politico. Stop by and visit if you have an interest in politics.
