The first day events of the Convention were canceled due to Isaac but I made great use of the time. The North Dakota and Connecticut delegations share a hotel, so for breakfast I had the pleasure of hearing the Governor of North Dakota speak of his fine state which boasts a 2.8% unemployment rate. Yep, I know they have oil but North Dakota is doing a whole lot of things right. They are the only state in the union to add manufacturing jobs as companies like John Deere continue to grow jobs there due to the business friendly climate.
With an almost free day ahead of me, my good friend Sharon Simms from St. Petersburg took me on a grand tour of her lovely city. A day with Sharon would not be complete without a session of sharing our favorite apps. On the way back to the hotel, I got my first visit to a Publix grocery store. Now I know what all the fuss is about! What a nice store and due to the beach location, it had an unusual parking situation with a parking garage built under the store.
After a very early dinner with the delegation, I headed back to my room and caught up with some work and some sleep. I skipped the 10:30PM dinner. Tuesday promises to be a very full day.
When you a from a blue state like Connecticut and a guest, you don't get the finest seats in the house. Section 308 will most definitely be in the nose bleed area.
