At 7AM this morning a small crowd waited for the official opening of CVS on the corner of Route 12 and Hurlbutt Road in Gales Ferry. My friends from other towns in the area and even some from Ledyard wonder what all the fuss is about. Those of us in Gales Ferry have been talking about this day for months.
I don’t mind driving to Uncasville for a prescription so it isn’t about the pharmacy, at least not for me. I love the idea of having a place close by to pick up a card, some peppermint patties, hot dog rolls and some hand soap. In fact, that is exactly what I bought this morning. The lack of a grocery store in Gales Ferry is a real bummer. CVS isn’t a grocery story but it will get me through a chocolate craving.
