Ledyard Photo Friday - Dentil Molding

When I walk into a house in Gales Ferry and see dentil molding, I am pretty confident the home was built by B&O Builders. Now retired, Bill Ballestrini and Jim Onorato were the masters when it came to custom moldings in their new construction homes. We just listed a lovely home on 5 Mount Vernon Drive in Gales Ferry built in 1982 and the dentil moldings were the giveaway of who the original builder was.

Through The Years - My Favorite Homes in Ledyard

This home tucked away on Pumpkin Hill Road is not one the biggest or most expensive listings I ever had in Ledyard, but is one of my favorites. I loved this house and the wonderful sellers who lived there. Custom built in 1999, this home was a replica of a circa 1810 home in Long Island, NY where the sellers lived prior to moving to Connecticut. It offered superior workmanship with attention to the original detail. Even the barn was a masterpiece!  This unforgettable home is located on 9.5 acres with gardens.fences and total privacy.

The Best Deal in Town - 13 Queen Eleanor Drive

Ledyard has some great values when it comes to real estate. The long slow decline in home prices combined with historically low interest rates contribute to real estate’s perfect storm for Ledyard home buyers. I don’t  think there is any better value than this 4 bedroom colonial in Sherwood Forest priced at $245,000.  Here’s how the seller herself describes it:

Two story Colonial home with 4 spacious BR's, 2.5 baths, eat-in kitchen, beautiful hardwood floors throughout and much more. French doors in Family Room open onto deck. In kitchen, new countertops, stainless steel appliances (ceramic top range, refrigerator, microwave) and dishwasher- all convey with property. Gorgeous stone fireplace! Partially finished basement with hatch door exit. Storage shed on back property. Oil heat with base boards and 2 zone heating. Public water connected. Septic Sewer. Cable ready. Two car garage. Large, private lot, surrounded by wooded area with beautiful scenery all year long- luscious green in spring/summer, brilliant colors in fall and a snowy masterpiece in winter! Excellent schools close to home. Home located minutes to New London Submarine Base and Coast Guard Academy.

Long Cove Road in Gales Ferry

I've always admired the stone work on the exterior of this home on Long Cove Road in Gales Ferry.  I was in the home once many years ago.  It is just as charming inside as it is out.  Built around 1930, this charming place once sat on a much larger parcel. Today it includes over 3 acres.

P.S. This home is not for sale.  It just looked picture perfect to me.
